Milton Friedman was a Nobel Prize winning economist. Although he passed away in 2006 he managed to leave us this little gem. During an address at the Mayo Clinic in 1978 he warned against the dangers of a government run healthcare system. Renowned as one of the most respected economists in American history Friedman leaves no doubt about where he stands on this topic that is raging around America today. He quotes some amazing statistics regarding British and Swedish healthcare. As well as outlining some very ugly decisions those governments were making. Please take the time to listen to this speech and pass it along to your friends and neighbors.

In the following segment Friedman opens with a statement that could come from today’s headlines, if we were to substitute President Obama where he says President Carter. (I must admit I wasn’t aware the Democratic infatuation with government healthcare went back to Carter.) He also says ‘we need to preserve the freedom of people to be foolish with their own money’.
