Along with John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, Ron Reagan, My father and uncles who served this country faithfully in war and in peace time, David Hedrick is added to my list of true AMERICAN heroes! Yes, he should run for that man's congressional seat. He will win. If I lived in his district he would have my vote and financial support.

AARP should represent its dues paying members' wishes or at least entertain their opinions. That's why the audience was so agitated. They were not aware that the organization had already made up its mind. This is what I have found with labor unions over the years. Dues paying members were never a part of the political decisions. My mother worked in factories her whole life. Paid ILGWU dues for 50 years. She wasn't political but that didn't stop them from supporting every Democrat to come down the pike. Now in her retirement she receives a lowsey $90 per month in retirement "benefits". Now their health plan might be bankrupt. Sorry but I think if you are a dues paying member of a group your interests should be represented.

As AARP is a private organization, they do not "represent" (in the political sense of the term) anybody. There is also a difference between running away when tough questions are asked, and shutting down the meeting when people start interrupting the speaker. She said that questions and comments can be brought up after she was finished talking, that is just bad manners on the part of her audience.
